American Saddlebreds
“The Horse America Made”, the American Saddlebred was developed right alongside the Morgan Horse and in many cases one breed assisted the other as they grew in size and popularity from the 1800s to present day. In both early stud books, you’ll find references to significant horses from both breeds and so it is only fitting that Salem Farm would branch out to include this incredibly athletic show horse.
Peggy and Phil have long been admirers of the beautiful American Saddlebred, and in 2003 began fulfilling a lifelong ambition by purchasing World Champion CH Evening Dazzle. Soon after, they began purchasing weanlings and are now enjoying their current show string. With significant wins on horses like Nutorious, Winter Red and Really Really Red, Peggy is enjoying training and showing this breed as a new facet to the Salem Farm routine.
